Root Canals

If you’re experiencing tooth pain or have a damaged tooth, root canal therapy can help save the tooth and alleviate your discomfort. As a leading provider of root canal treatments in Gainesville, FL, our dental practice specializes in repairing and restoring teeth damaged by injury or decay. Root canal therapy is designed to treat the infected pulp chamber of a tooth, addressing painful infections or abscesses that can occur when bacteria spread and create pockets of bacteria and pus beneath the tooth root.

Without timely treatment, an infected tooth can lead to various complications, including swelling, bone loss around the root, severe tooth pain, tooth discoloration, increased sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures, and the possibility of the infection spreading into the gums or cheek.

During your visit to our Gainesville office for a root canal procedure, our experienced dentist or endodontist will thoroughly examine your tooth using state-of-the-art technology, including x-rays to assess the condition of the root canals and identify any infection in the jaw bone. To ensure your comfort throughout the procedure, we will administer local anesthesia. Our skilled dental professional will carefully create a small hole in the tooth to access and remove the damaged nerve tissue using specialized root canal files. The tooth will then be meticulously cleaned, and medication may be placed inside to clear any infection. To protect the tooth from contaminants until your next visit, a temporary filling will be placed to seal it securely.

At your follow-up appointment, our Gainesville dentist will fill the interior of the tooth with a sealer paste and a rubber compound called gutta percha. A durable filling is then placed to restore the hole in the enamel. Since a root canal-treated tooth can be weaker, we may recommend a crown, crown and post, or another suitable restoration to strengthen and protect the tooth, ensuring its long-term stability.

Thanks to advanced technology and modern techniques, root canal therapy is now more comfortable and less painful than ever before. Our team at Coast Dental Newberry Square is committed to providing exceptional dental care and ensuring your utmost comfort throughout the root canal procedure. With our expertise and dedication to your dental health, we strive to achieve high success rates, with many patients experiencing long-lasting results after root canal therapy combined with a well-fitted crown.

The staff were professional. They were helpful with my insurance. After Erica’s deep cleaning I surely feel like my teeth is clean and thankful for her work today.

I went to Coastal for the first time ever and they are super nice people. They made sure it was safe for me to do any x rays, since I am currently pregnant. They speak Spanish too, so if English isn’t your preferred language they got you. They took care of me very well and work with me, and showed me that I was elegible for a payment plan which is so much easier for me. But definitely recommend 💯

I am a first-time patient of Coast Dental, I moved here from a different state, and after using one dentist's office my entire life I found myself needing a general cleaning. I live about 30 minutes away from this office but, scheduled my appointments at this location due to the office in my city being booked up for many months in advance. The first exam will just be a general exam and x-rays, so if you are a first-time patient like myself be prepared to come back another day for the cleaning. My first appointment went somewhat smoothly, the hygienist and dental assistant were both very nice and tried their best to keep everything running smoothly as there was no doctor in that location, you only spoke to one virtually and they reviewed the charts and X-rays. I spent a good amount of time waiting for the hygienist after my X-rays were completed due to technology issues and a patient before me giving them a hard time. I don't have dental insurance so I paid out of pocket for everything, it was about $350 for the X-rays and exam for my first visit. On my next visit a few days later for my prophy cleaning it was roughly $160 for the cleaning plus another $70 for the concentrated fluoride varnish. Overall I was happy with my visit here, however, I definitely recommend having dental insurance.

Absolutely wonder experience at the dentist. Dentist Erika (can't remember her last name) but she is so sweet and kind. She took the time to educate me every visit and helped me with choosing the proper treatment plan to help me improve my dental health. She also helped me with figuring out my financial plan to afford the treatment. She speaks Spanish and I highly recommend her services.
