Coast Dental Office in Port Richey, FL Adds Digital Radiography, Improves Patient Experience
The high-resolution digital X-ray system is faster and more convenient for Coast Dental Port Richey’s patients, and the new intraoral camera shows them what the dentist sees.
TAMPA, FL (August 10, 2016) – Coast Dental Port Richey has found a new way to make going to the dentist easier and more enjoyable. The team installed a high-resolution digital x-ray system and intraoral camera at its practice at 10083 U.S. Highway 19 South. To make an appointment, please call (727) 868-0200.
Digital radiography offers Coast Dental patients immediate benefits. Digital X-rays offer better resolution than traditional photographic film and allow the dentist to zoom into parts of the image to better see and diagnose problems. Digital X-rays are also more comfortable for patients, and dramatically reduce exposure to radiation. Plus, the images are instantly uploaded and available to the dentist, which cuts down on the wait time that patients used to experience while waiting for traditional dental X-rays to be developed. There is also an environmental benefit: since the images are digital, there are no chemicals needed to process the film, and therefore there is no chemical waste.
The dental office in Port Richey also added an intraoral camera. Patients will no longer need to hold a little mirror up to their teeth to try to see a problem area. The general dentist, Dr. Scott Horovitz, can simply point the wand-shaped camera at the tooth, snap a picture, and display it on a computer screen immediately. The patient will be able to see exactly what Dr. Horovitz sees, including cavities, broken fillings, cracked teeth, restorations, molars, and gums. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.
“We are excited to offer digital radiography and intraoral camera technology to better serve our patients,” said Dr. Horovitz who earned his dental degree at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 1999. “They provide fast, accurate images so people have a better understanding of what’s happening with their oral health.”
