Business Leader names dentist 2011 Woman Extraordinaire
TAMPA, FL (December 29, 2011) — Cindy V. Roark, DMD, was honored by Business Leader as a 2011 Woman Extraordinaire from a field of 1,700 nominees. In her role as chief clinical director for Coast Dental, P.A., Dr. Roark is an influential leader who has had an extraordinary impact on Coast Dental’s success.
In August, Coast Dental Services, Inc. became the fifth largest dental services organization in the U.S. with the acquisition of SmileCare, a California-based dental practice management company with 57 dental offices. Coast Dental has continued to grow and now has 183 locations in five states. Dr. Roark manages the licensed clinicians, helps introduce new technologies and services, oversees quality assurance, and provides professional development opportunities.
She was one of two dozen Tampa Bay women recently honored by Business Leader at Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club. “I believe you live the job and teach by example. I’m proud of the role I’ve played in providing Coast Dental patients with the latest treatments. Our practices now offer digital radiography, laser therapy, clear aligners, advanced oral cancer screening technology, and a progressive protocol for the diagnosis, treatment and management of periodontal disease,” said Dr. Roark.
Dr. Roark joined Coast Dental in 2004, moving from Nantucket Island, Mass., where she owned a practice for four years. She has practiced with Coast Dental in both Florida and Georgia and served on Coast’s clinical advisory board while a full time faculty member at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She earned her dental degree magna cum laude at Boston University, Goldman School of Dental Medicine and stays current on research, treatment protocols, techniques and trends in dentistry through regular participation in continuing education programs. Dr. Roark is a member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, West Coast District Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and Dental Practice-Based Research Network.
