On this week’s episode, we begin looking at gingivitis, beginning by looking at dental biofilm induced gingivitis and even more specifically, looking at localized or predisposing factors. Now, to clarify, when we talk specifically about plaque induced gingivitis, I want to be very clear, this is when biofilm levels have begun to build up. And if we do not see any disruption or removal of this dental plaque accumulation over days or weeks, we’re going to begin to see what’s called an incipient dysbiosis.

On this week’s episode, we continue the dialog about the AAP classification system and more specifically, dental biofilm induced gingivitis. This week we are looking at systemic or modifying factors for patients that present with dental biofilm induced gingivitis. And I want to be clear.

On this week’s episode, we continue the convo around the AAP classification system from 2017 and this week we are going to talk about gingivitis. Specifically gingivitis according to the American Academy of Periodontology, is now going to be split out into two major categories. Now, before we get into these categories, I want to be very clear.

On this week’s episode of Fast Facts: Perio Edition, we are continuing the convo around the 2017 AAP classification system. Last week we looked at the clinical spectrum of health and we discussed the first two of the major categories when it comes to diagnosing or identifying periodontal health as pristine periodontal health and a well maintained clinically periodontally healthy case.

On this week’s episode, we begin the dialog around the 2017 AAP classification systems by talking about periodontal health. In 2017, the American Academy of Periodontology proposed that there were four distinctive levels of periodontal health, depending on the state of the periodontium itself.

This week we’re going to unpack weird facts and this is coming to us from a study from Genesis publications. This weird fact is kind of an interesting postulation, if you will. This study, entitled The covid-19 Pathway, proposes the fact that there could be an alternative route of sars-cov-2 infection.

This week kicks off the conversation about taking a look at the American Periodontology and the way that their World Federation workshop in 2017 changed the way we were expected to look at, diagnose, and address diseases of the periodontium.
