After Treatment
After your braces or aligners come off, your orthodontist will give you a custom-made retainer. It is important that you follow your orthodontist’s instructions and wear the retainer for the amount of time prescribed, typically for a year. Teeth that are not held in place by a retainer long enough for new supporting bone to develop around them can drift back to their original positions, and you certainly don’t want that! Your orthodontist will tell you what you can do retain your new, beautiful smile so that it will look great for years to come.
