Whether it’s been a few months since your last visit or a few years, we can help you have the smile you desire. If you’re a new patient, you’ll receive a comprehensive oral examination and x-rays to help your dentist assess your oral health. Your dentist will look for signs of:
- tooth decay
- bone loss
- oral cancer
- periodontal (gum) disease
Cleanings

Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease is another name for gum disease, and it is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. It’s caused by a build-up of plaque, a sticky film of bacteria that is constantly forming on our teeth and can only be removed by proper brushing, daily flossing, and regular visits to the dentist who can reach the areas that your toothbrush can’t.
Gingivitis is the first stage of periodontal disease and is the only stage that is reversible. Once it advances, it’s called periodontitis. Half of American adults suffer from periodontitis, according to a study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In adults age 65 and older, the prevalence rate increases to 70.1 percent.
