Dr. Kathryn Burchfield, General Dentist
Kathryn Burchfield, DMD, provides comprehensive and compassionate dental care to patients of all ages. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from LECOM School of Dental Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Burchfield is skilled in general, cosmetic, preventive, and restorative dentistry. She has advanced experience performing dental exams, oral surgery, root canals, extractions, crowns, fillings, and much more.
Dr. Burchfield is passionate about community service and oral health education. She is actively involved in outreach initiatives through Remote Area Medical, Interfaith Dental, and Give Kids a Smile. She also participates in the LECOM Dental Association for Philanthropy. Through these organizations, she delivers oral health education, dental screenings, and preventive services to underserved populations. She also participates in local school and community health programs. Dr. Kathleen Akers, General Dentist
Kathleen Akers, DDS, MS, is a highly skilled periodontist dedicated to providing comprehensive and personalized care for her patients. Dr. Akers graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska, and went on to earn her Master of Science with a Certificate in Periodontics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She brings a wealth of expertise in general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry, while specializing in periodontics. Dr. Akers has extensive private practice experience in both Houston, TX and Sarasota, FL, and has also served as an adjunct professor at LECOM School of Dentistry, where she enjoys instructing future dental professionals in clinical periodontics.
Active in research and community outreach, Dr. Akers has contributed to advances in dental implantology and periodontal regeneration, authoring peer-reviewed publications and presenting research on bone loss around dental implant designs. She is an involved member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, and other professional organizations. Dr. Akers’ commitment to community service is reflected in her years volunteering her dental expertise for events like Give Kids a Smile and the Special Olympics. Outside the office, she enjoys running half marathons, traveling, hiking, scuba diving, skiing, spending quality time with friends, family, and her dog, Guinness. Dr. Akers is dedicated to helping each patient achieve long-lasting oral health and a confident smile through individualized, compassionate care.
